Our Process

Your Path to Full Management

A form, a questionnaire, and an hour with Chris. Everything after that is ours: the proposal, two signatures, account opening, transfers, and the daily management that follows.

Three Things Before We Begin

A form, a questionnaire, and an hour of your time. Both forms are required before you become a client — doing them first is what makes the introductory call worth an hour. Everything after that is ours to do.

3 stepsBefore we begin
01About 5 minutes

Client Intake Form

Required · Start Here

Your financial picture before the conversation: what you own, what you owe, and what you want the money to do. About five minutes, and it tells us whether we are a good fit for each other. Everything that follows is built on it.

Risk Tolerance Questionnaire

Required · Do This Second

Required before you become a client, and strongly preferred before the call. It combines the Schwab investor-profile framework with Bull Run’s scenario-based assessment and ends with the allocation your answers support. You keep a PDF of it — and with both forms in hand, the first call opens with a real recommendation.

Introductory Call

Required · With Chris

Pick a time and we confirm it. We go through your risk and the full picture of what you own — not only the piece you are thinking of moving, since a plan built against half a balance sheet is not worth much. No preparation needed; the forms already did that.

Optional · What We Provide Next

Portfolio Proposal

This is not another required task for you. It is the written recommendation we provide once we understand your situation: the strategy blend, account structure, exact fee, and how it compares with what you own today. Complete both forms beforehand and we can often walk you through it on the introductory call itself.

Cannot get to them beforehand? We can complete them together on the call — it just means the hour goes to data gathering rather than decisions. If you would like us working from your current holdings, email your most recent statements to cpassarelli@bullrunim.com.

Our Part

From Discovery to Ongoing Partnership

You have done your three things. Steps 04 through 07 are ours — you sign twice, and that is the extent of it. Here is exactly what happens at each stage, so nothing arrives as a surprise.

04
Step Four After the call

Portfolio Proposal

Written, not verbal: your full picture, the strategy blend we recommend, the account structure, and the exact fee, in plain language. Your risk profile maps to one of five standing allocations — that is the starting point, not the answer, because yours gets tailored around your tax situation and what you already own. Some people accept the proposal as it stands. Some want a second call to walk it line by line first; that happens often, and it costs nothing.

Step Five Both digital, both from your phone

Two Signatures

You sign twice, and that is the extent of it.

01From us

The advisory agreement, our ADV disclosure, the fee schedule, and our privacy policy — everything that governs how we manage the money and what we charge. The packet carries the risk tolerance questionnaire too, already handled if you completed it on the site. Both arrive by email.

02From Schwab

Schwab emails you the account paperwork and you approve it inside your own Schwab account. Never had one? You create your login as part of approving it — that step is built in, so there is nothing to set up first. This is the request that opens the accounts and brings the assets in.

Advisory Agreement ADV & Fee Schedule Minutes, Not Days
If you have never had a Schwab account
You do not need a login first

We build the application and Schwab emails you. You create your Schwab credentials as part of approving it — so your online access exists from that moment, before the accounts are even funded. Approving takes minutes, and the request stays open for thirty days if you need to think about it.

If you already have Schwab accounts
Nothing gets reopened

You keep the login you have. Give us the eight-digit account number and we send an authorization you approve with those same credentials — that is what links the account to Bull Run so we can manage it. Anything held elsewhere still gets a new Schwab account and transfers in, so a mixed household simply runs both at once.

06
Step Six Held in your name

Accounts and Access

Accounts are opened in your name at Schwab, and assets move custodian to custodian — never through Bull Run. Transfers ride along with the account paperwork; cash contributions and recurring transfers can be set up at the same time, and if you are rolling over an old 401(k) we coordinate with the plan provider and walk you through it. Once the assets land, we set up your Black Diamond and RightCapital access.

07
Step Seven Every day after

Ongoing Management

This is the part where you do nothing. The portfolio runs daily — rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and adjustments as your life changes — and the plan updates alongside it. Review as often as you actually want to: quarterly, annually, or only when something changes. Reach out with a question whenever one comes up.
